The Lord blessed us with the gift of Dale Ebersole for 84 years, before calling him to heaven on Saturday, March 23, 2024, while at home surrounded by his family. He was born in Findlay on November 17, 1939, to William Dale and Ruth (Meyer) Ebersole.

Dale graduated from Wittenberg University in 1961 and served in the U.S. Air Force at Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas, from 1961-65. After the Air Force disbanded his combat missile unit, he returned home to work at the University of Toledo libraries for more than 30 years. Among his accomplishments were designing the layout of Carlson Library, cataloging serials, working with maps and the rare book collection.

Outside of work, he volunteered at churches over the years, taking on roles from usher, deacon, Sunday School teacher, assisting minister and more. A favorite pastime of Dale’s was photography. He took thousands of pictures at church and family events, especially after grandchildren came into the picture.

In his final years, he traveled to Australia and the Holy Land. The Holy Land trip included a big highlight for him, baptism in the river Jordan.

Dale is survived by his brother, Lynn (Charlotte) Ebersole of Cincinnati; sister, Carolyn (Bill) Gest of Phoenix; sister-in-law, Sue Longo of Santa Clara, California; sons, Bryan (Danamarie) Ebersole of Phoenix and Alexander (Stephanie) Velasquez-Ebersole of Grand Prairie, Texas; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Celia (Longo) Ebersole; brother-in-law, Michael Longo, and his parents.
