PHS boys club volleyball begins second season

The Perrysburg High School boys club volleyball is in its second season. In January 2022, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) board of directors voted unanimously to add boys volleyball as an emerging sport. This means it is administered like the OHSAA’s current recognized sports, but has additional requirements according to OHSAA general sports regulation 16 that could lead to full sanctioning in the future.

PHS dance team competes at States

The Perrysburg High School dance team competed in three small group routines at the OASSA State Dance Championship on January 28, at Heath High School.

PHS gymnasts capture league championship

The Perrysburg High School gymnastics team traveled to Exceleration Gymnastics Center to compete in the Northern Lakes League Championship meet, hosted by Findlay, on February 10. The gymnasts took first place, capturing their ninth consecutive NLL Championship.

PHS boys cross country team finishes 10th at state

The Perrysburg boys cross country team had their best finish at the state cross country meet on November 4, at Fortess Obetz in Columbus, placing 10th out of 20 teams. The team includes Anthony Clark, Brody Bauman, Ethan Laeng, A.J. Bohman, Alex Sherman, Kenny Morgan Jr. and Noah Madden. A.J., Ethan, Alex, Anthony and Brody earned Ohio Association Academic All-Ohio honors.

Men’s soccer returns to Owens

Owens Community College will expand its intercollegiate sports offerings for the 2024-25 academic year by bringing back the men’s soccer program. Men’s soccer was introduced at Owens in 1998 and continued play through the 2015 season.

Belmont Club proud of its winning high school golfers

Belmont Country Club shares some special ties to this year’s high school state golf champions. On October 21, 12 teams and a total of 72 golfers played the second and final round of the Ohio Division I boys state golf championship at Ohio State’s Scarlet Course in Columbus with Anthony Wayne High School’s golfers winning by three strokes over Archbishop Hoban, 598 to 601.

The Lady Jackets defeated Fremont Ross, 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 25 17 in their first District matchup. Sophie Burkey had 17 kills, two blocks and four aces; Katie Pahl registered 15 kills and one ace; Wrigley Takats added eight kills and five blocks.
