Kathryn (Thomas) Bedee, age 63, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away September 3, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. She was born to Robert and Bertha (Heilman) Thomas on April 28, 1958. Kathy was a 1976 graduate of Perrysburg High School, where she loved to take home economics courses and participate in drama. She attended the University of Toledo for a short time, and always enjoyed learning new things.
Kathy married the love of her life, Richard Bedee, on September 30, 1978. Over the course of their 43 year marriage, they raised their two children, Aaron and Sarah, and enjoyed traveling as a family. She was a loving stay-at-home mother for most of the kids’ childhoods, and became honorary mom to many other children over the years.
She spent many hours volunteering within the Perrysburg Schools, and helped with many fund-raisers. When her children were older, she began working as a teacher’s aide and even spent a year as a preschool teacher. ∏ She worked for many years at Houck’s Hallmark, where she loved to chat with the customers as they perused the Perrysburg store.
Her love for family extended far beyond her husband, children and grandchild, as she actively made time to nurture relationships with extended family and friends. Though Kathy’s health was failing for sometime, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit kept her pushing through the pain.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steve Thomas and sister-in-law, SueAnn Thomas; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Ralph and Bernice Bedee; brother-in-law, James Bedee, and sisters-in-law, Cathy Bedee and Marianne Bedee. She is survived by her husband, Richard; son, Aaron (Liz) Bedee; daughter, Sarah (fiancé R.J. Basil) Bedee; grandson, Chase Yunker; brother, David (Pricilla) Thomas; brother-in-law, Larry Bedee, and countless beloved nieces, nephews and friends.
The family requests those who wish to express sympathy to consider making a donation Perrysburg Schools Foundation in Kathy’s name.
