Betty Jo Rieck, a longtime Perrysburg resident, died on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Manor of Perrysburg. Betty was born in 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Katherine (Cody) Philby, and grew up in Wisconsin.

Ronald “Ron” John Frankevic passed away peacefully on the evening of June 1, 2023, at the University of Toledo Medical Center in Toledo. He was born on December 11, 1939, in Toledo, to John and Sophia Frankevic. Ron graduated from Macomber High School, and on January 7, 1965, earned his journeyman’s card as a toolmaker.

Peter Marshall Schaf, 71, passed away suddenly on May 26, 2023, in his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in McLean, Virginia, on October 29, 1951, to Leva (Shearer) and Col. Frank Lewis Schaf.

Richard F. Watkins, 87, of Perrysburg, passed away Wednesday, May 24, 2023. He was born on June 17, 1935, in Akron, to Henry F. Watkins and Iva M. (Mc-Kinnie) Watkins. Richard graduated from Whitmer High School in 1953. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his master’s degree in accounting from the University of Toledo. Richard began his career at Kroger, before joining Marathon Oil Company for seven years. He retired in 2009 as the executive vice-president at Northwest

MARGERY PIZER KRAMER

Margery Kramer died Christmas morning last year, at the age of 85, from complications due to Parkinson’s disease dementia. She was born in 1937, to Albert and Carol Pizer, in Toledo. Margery moved to Perrysburg with her five siblings in the 1940s and graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1956. She later graduated from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, Margery worked at St. Luke’s Hospital and Visiting Nursing Services. She earned a master’s degree in nursing from the Medical College of Ohio in 1986. At the graduation ceremony, she received the Best Master’s Thesis Award for her original research work on Relaxation with Guided Imagery for Terminal Cancer Patients. After graduation, she taught psych mental health nursing at Owens Community College for 10 years. During that time, Margery received the Outstanding Teaching Award and was well liked and highly regarded by all of her students. After retiring from Owens, Marge volunteered for the Child Advocate Program in Wood County.

MARY ELLEN PRATT

Mary Ellen Pratt, 84, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully, Thursday, May 11, 2023, at her residence, surrounded by her loving husband, Doug. Mary was born August 30, 1938, in Bowling Green, to Lewis and Gladys (Huber) Kramer. She graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1956 and earned her bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1959. Mary Ellen married Douglas Pratt on March 29, 1958, in Bowling Green.
