Jeanette (Bobby) Fairman, 82, of Perrysburg, died peacefully on Friday, June 5, with her family by her side.
Jeanette was born on September 19, 1943, in Dyersburg, Tennessee, to Julia and Stephan Bobby. As a child, she enjoyed gardening and spending time on her aunt and uncle’s farm near Steubenville, Ohio. Jeanette grew up on the west side of Cleveland and graduated high school from John Marshall in Cleveland. She attended Ohio University and John Carroll, finishing her education degree with a literacy specialization, a choice fueled by her lifelong passion for reading and books.
She met her husband, Norman, while working at Stephen Howe Elementary School in 1969. Their path then took them to Cholula, Mexico, in 1975, where they spent two cherished years embracing life with their first son and welcoming their daughter into the world. And when they made their home in Perrysburg in 1983, their family was completed with the birth of their third child.
During the years she devoted to raising her children, Jeanette filled her days with the things and people she loved. She was the kind of person who committed fully; her family, friends and community all knew that if she said yes, she meant it. Her home was always alive with the smell of something baking or cooking, the hum of a sewing machine or the colors of a new quilt or garden project. Jeanette loved being involved in clubs and activities in her community including League of Women Voters, Historic Perrysburg, All Thumbs Garden Club and Quilts of Valor, just to name a few. She also never hesitated to volunteer for her kids’ and grandkids’ activities.
Jeanette had a natural artistic talent. Creativity and love was woven into everything she did, from her artwork to the personal projects she poured herself into.
Jeanette is survived by her loving husband, Norman; her three children, Orion, Lisa (Adam) and Owen (Tara), and her five grandchildren, Jack, Sam, Tyler, Erinn and Juniper. She also leaves behind her sister, Carolyn Paterson; brother, Stephan Bobby, and many beloved cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father.
A gathering will be held in Jeanette’s honor at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perryburg.
