Phyllis Elaine (Buckles) Henry, 94, of Gilbert, Arizona, passed away on Wednesday, April 10, 2024. She was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on September 1, 1929, to Horace and Florence (Cowles) Buckles. She was married in Youngstown on June 7, 1952, to Calvin D. Henry of Perrysburg.
Phyllis graduated from Bluffton College with a degree in education in 1950. She taught seventh and eighth grade English and Ohio history at Lake School District for 30 years before retiring in 1984. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Perrysburg.
Calvin, her husband of 58 years, passed away in 2011. Phyllis is survived by son, Larry J. (wife, Dolores) Henry of Cypress, Texas; daughter, Marilyn K. (husband, Tommie) Austin of Gilbert, Arizona, and granddaughter, Allison P. (husband, Eric) King of New York, New York.
As per her wishes, immediate family members will spread her ashes on Lake Erie. Friends and family will be received on Friday, July 12, from 1 to 2 p.m., with a Remembrance Service starting at 2 p.m., at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg.
