Jerry David Lammers, 71, of Perrysburg, passed away Saturday, April 8, 2023, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Jerry was born April 10, 1951, in Cincinnati, to Virgil and Eleanor (Furry) Lammers. On August 29, 1970, he married Debra Baehner, his high school sweetheart. They raised three sons and a daughter and shared 52 years of marriage.
Jerry earned his bachelor’s degrees in math and physics, and went on to earn his master’s degrees in physics and nuclear engineering. After four years in the U.S. Navy, he worked for Combustion Engineering in Connecticut for seven years. Then he worked for Toledo Edison at the Davis Besse plant and ended his career at Chrysler.
Jerry loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, bringing him great joy. He enjoyed biking, walking, reading and classic movies. He often went birding with Debra and he was always her “ears” to help find them. He joked that it was “birding for the hearing impaired.” Jerry enjoyed traveling all over the United States and Canada. He especially loved their many trips to France. Grandchildren always teased him about his “facts about France” stories. Jerry coached many of his children’s sports teams, especially liking baseball.
Along with his wife, Debra, Jerry is survived by his children, Sean (Cecilia) Lammers, Brandon (Jasmin) Lammers, Keith (Jaclyn) Lammers and Monica Lammers; grandchildren, Emma, Raven, Zoe, Sarah, Sophia, Ava, Sahki, Keiren, Aaron, Felix and Emilia; siblings, Thomas, Carol and Sharon Lammers. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services for Jerry will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials take the form of contributions to Way Public Library, 101 East Indiana Avenue, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
