MISHKA Eugene “Gene” A. Mishka, 90, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2024. Gene was bom June 9, 1934 in Toledo, to John and Hattie (Przyojski) Mishka. He attended Libbey High School and proudly served our country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He married Vivian Sloop on December 2, 1961, at St. James Catholic Church and they celebrated 63 years together.
Gene worked a variety of jobs, including assistant manager at Miller Carry Out, sheriff’s deputy with Lucas County and then he worked as a freight checker for Teamsters Local 20 for more than 20 years. Gene was a life member of the VFW 6170 and the American Legion Post 28. He enjoyed wordsearch puzzles and Detroit Tigers baseball. Gene will be remembered for his storytelling of past events in his life, his great sense of humor and his love for family and chocolate.
Along with his wife, Vivian, Gene is survived by his sons, William “Bill” (Ann) Mishka and Thomas “Tom” (Jennifer) Mishka; grandchildren, Timothy “Tim” Mishka, Jordanna Mishka, Jesse Mishka and Jared Mishka, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Richard, Paul and Jackie Mishka, and sisters, Beverly (Al) Harder and Shirley (John) Kreais.
Friends and family will be received Thursday, January 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, where prayer services will be held at 1 p.m. Burial will be private in Resurrection Cemetery.
