Merritt Lee Searfoss, 97, of Perrysburg, passed away Sunday, May 10, at Otterbein of Pemberville. Merritt was born January 22, 1923, in Williamstown, Ohio, to George and Hazel (Rod-abaugh) Searfoss. Merritt proudly served in the 214th Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II, which included his heroic service on D-Day plus 14. He went on to earn his master’s degree from Bowling Green State University. On December 12, 1948, he married Lorene (Mathias) Searfoss.
James L. Cook, 81, of Rossford, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020, after fighting until his last breath, of complications from COVID-19.
Joseph Sowa, age 83, passed away peacefully at home on May 3, 2020. He was born in Glassport, Pennsylvania, on June 8, 1936, to Stanley and Mary Sower. He married Mary Agnes Vossel on May 28, 1960. He proudly served in the National Guard and received an honorable discharge on October 4, 1963. He and Mary moved to Perrysburg in 1963 and he worked at Steel City Lumber until 1965, when he began working as a conductor for the Pennsylvania Railroad, later known as Conrail. He retired from there in 1998. He loved spending time with his family. He enjoyed working out at St. Luke’s Heart Rehab and the Rossford Recreation Center, going to the casino, traveling and having coffee with his friends. He also enjoyed his lunches with the St. Luke’s rehab group and the retired railroaders.
Neil Andrew Englehart, 55, of Perrysburg, passed away on May 2, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee, Ohio, due to complications related to a heart attack suffered on April 28.
Margaret Eileen Carstensen went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2020. Margaret spent many years as a laborer. She loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much and enjoyed taking pictures at many activities and gatherings. She also enjoyed knitting and doing word search puzzles.
