Jack Snyder passed away surrounded by family on April 20, 2021, in Manteca, California. He is survived by his wife of 17 years, Barbara. He was blessed with four children and two stepchildren: Scott (Laura) Snyder of Sebastapol, Sue Ann (Dallas) Fink of Manteca, Steven (Kim) Snyder of San Jose, Sherry (Dave) Frisk of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, and his stepchildren, Debbie Bowen of Manteca and Lisa Crowley of Covington, Louisiana. He had 11 grandchildren and five step-grandchildren: Jackie Snyder, Vivian Snyder, Amber Cantrell, Paul Fink, Ian Fink, Emily Fink, Hope Gallegos, Cory Snyder, Reuben Thissen, Hannah Wetterstrom, and Sarah Sedillo. His step-grandchildren are Matthew Crowley, John Crowley, Cody Silva, Michael Bowen and Erika Silva. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Rosellen Snyder.

•LOIS ANN HILL

Lois Ann Hill was a local farm girl who grew up in Wood County. She took a job as a secretary in the Rossford Army Ordinance Depot, where she met the love of her life, Lloyd J. Hill Jr. It was love at first sight. After their wedding November 7, 1953, they moved to Edwardsville, Illinois. Mom was so homesick they moved back to Wood County, settling in Perrysburg, where they raised their five children on Mulberry Street.

PAUL EDWARD ECKEL

Paul Edward Eckel, age 93, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. He was born in Perrysburg, on May 26, 1927, to Ruth (Eckel) McDowell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and worked at L.O.F., where he retired after 30 years.

CRAIG LEE ZIMMERS

Craig Lee Zimmers, 71, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2021. On September 26, 1949, he was born in Dayton, Ohio, to the late Neal and Annabel Zimmers. He completed his high school education at Phillips Academy in Andover, Massachusetts. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree from Duke University and his master’s degree from the University of Dayton. Craig dedicated his life to public service. He founded and ran a substance abuse treatment facility (Nova House) in his hometown of Dayton. His duty to serve then carried him into the political realm as he served as Harrison Township Trustee before serving seven years as the Montgomery County clerk of courts. His work took him across the globe. He went to China leading economic development trips on behalf of the State of Ohio. As clerk of courts, he traveled to Albania to facilitate the first free elections.

Daniel Parham, 48, of Toledo, Ohio, passed suddenly on Sunday, April 25, 2021. He was born September 4, 1972, in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph Parham and Brenda Adkins. The family moved to Vevay, Indiana, in 1986, where Dan met the love of his life, Sandra Sunderhaus.

HARRY N. MILLS JR.

Harry N. Mills Jr., 94, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully Monday, April 19, 2021, at the Waterford of Levis Commons. He was born March 10, 1927, to Harry Sr. and Golda Mills. The family lived in East Toledo and Harry Jr. attended the old Navarre School on Kingston Street for his elementary education. In 1941, Harry was enrolled at Morrison R. Waite High School as a freshman.

AUBREY ERIC ARNDT

Aubrey Eric Arndt, age 80, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on April 21, 2021, in Flower Hospital, Sylvania. He was born June 4, 1940, to Henry and Erna (Hoffman) Arndt, in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Following graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve. He went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Western Michigan University in 1966. On April 23, 1966, he married Joanne C. Rinehart in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Aubrey and Joanne raised three children and celebrated nearly 53 years of marriage before Joanne’s passing in 2019.

Florence Joanne Espen, a longtime resident of Maumee and Perrysburg, passed away four days before her 92nd birthday, at Perrysburg Mercy Hospital, on December 13, 2020. Jan, as she preferred to be called, was the daughter of X.

M. Helen Schwieterman, 85, of Delphos, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021, at 11:09 a.m., at Sarah Jane Living Center, surrounded by her loving family.

•DEACON LAWRENCE W. TIEFENBACH SR.

Deacon Lawrence W. Tiefenbach Sr., 83, of Fishers, Indiana, and formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on April 8, 2021, in Community Hospital North, Indianapolis, Indiana. He was born June 10, 1937, to Lawrence Wendell and Gabrielle (Kojancic) Tiefenbach, in Cleveland, Ohio. Following graduation from high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force from 1958-62 in communications. On October 31, 1959, he married Margaret A. Dusek at Spangdahlem AFB in Germany. Larry would later receive a BA degree from Baldwin Wallace College after years of attending night school. Larry and Margaret raised two children and celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage. Larry worked for Warren Radio in Toledo and later as a software developer for Maumee-based Aktion Associates before he retired.
