Robert (Bob) Clair Twining 92, of Perrysburg, left this earth peacefully at his home on May 7, 2024, with his loving wife of 72 years, Grace Marie (Hammer) Twining, and daughter, Barbara Stewart, by his side. Bob and Grace were married in 1952.

Bob was born on October 16, 1931, at home, to Ned and Bessie (Mclaughlin) Twining.

Bob grew up in Medusa Gardens, Sylvania. He briefly attended Scott High School, Toledo, and graduated from Burnham High School, Sylvania, where he played football and went on to play semi-pro for the Toledo Tornadoes.

Bob worked for Bunting Ambulance Service and Porter Mcdonald Surveyors (where he was instrumental in laying out the terminal and runways at the Toledo Express Airport). He then moved on to National Survey Service. He became a registered surveyor in 1969. In 1972, Bob and Grace opened R.C. Twining and Associates, where they managed the engineer and surveying business for 35 years, retiring in 2007.

Bob had many interests; he raced hobby stock cars in the 1960’s at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways. His car was #19 (or #61 when flipped upside down).

He also enjoyed riding snowmobiles, hunting and fishing. Many memories were made by Bob and Grace in retirement as they enjoyed traveling, making friends and taking trips in their RV, seeing many states along the way. They also spent many years wintering in Florida.

Bob was an auxiliary police officer for Sylvania Township and Lucas County Sheriff. He also served Sylvania city as a police officer.

He was a Zenobia Shriner for 25 years.

Bob also was a fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and NASCAR racing.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Ned and Bessie Twining; brother, Don Twining; sisters, Barbara and Delores, and his step-father, George Lenz.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Grace Marie Twining; daughter, Barbara Stewart (Bob); grandson, Keith (Leighann) Stewart, and granddaughter, Kelly (Rob) Wissolik. He also is survived by great-grandchildren, Olivia, Lily, Derek and Walker Stewart and Brecken and Braylen Wissolik.

He is fondly remembered by longtime employee, A1 (Judy) Szczublewski, and many family and friends.

The family would like to thank Ohio Living Hospice, whose care Bob was under for just over one year, and American Cremation Events for their loving care of Bob and the kindness and compassion shown to the family. They also would like to thank Bob’s in-home caregivers, Judy, Kathie, Terry, Kesha, Judie, Amy, Laura and Markesh, who gave loving care and support to both Bob and Grace.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio Living Hospice, 1730 South Reynolds Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614.

In celebration of Bob’s life, family and friends are invited to attend a remembrance gathering at 1 p.m., with a luncheon to follow, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., on Sunday, June 2, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Stony Ridge, corner of Rt. 20 and 163, in the church hall.
