Peter Marshall Schaf, 71, passed away suddenly on May 26, 2023, in his home with his loving wife by his side. He was born in McLean, Virginia, on October 29, 1951, to Leva (Shearer) and Col. Frank Lewis Schaf.

He graduated from Langley

High School in 1969 and attended the University of Toledo, earning a bachelor of science degree in engineering in 1973. Pete was employed by Owens Illinois in Toledo for 42 years, traveling to South America, Scotland and Australia during his years at OI.

He married Elizabeth (Betsy) Bernard in 1976, in Perrysburg, where they lived for 47 years. Pete was an avid golfer, playing every week with a group of fellow retired OI employees. He also was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.

He will be remembered as a dedicated and caring husband, father and grandfather. Pete carved out a good life for himself full of loyalty, humility, generosity and quiet courage and strength.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy; his daughter, Ellen (Jon) Main of Loveland, Ohio; and grandchildren, JP and Camden. The love that their “Gramps” had for them will live on forever in their hearts. He also is survived by his brothers, Nicholas (Pat) and Robert; his brothers-in-law, Tom (Debbe) Becker, Brad Bernard and Peter Bernard; and his mother-in-law, Helen, as well as many nieces and nephews.
