Edie Hawkins, 71, peacefully passed on February 26, 2021, with her sons by her side.
Edie was born in 1949, to John and Ida (Rau) Vogel in Adrian, Michigan. As a child she moved to Napoleon, where she graduated from high school. She then attended Maumee Valley School of Nursing, later working as an RN at the Toledo Hospital.
After earning an associates degree from Owens Community College, she went on to retire from the UT Foundation as a financial analyst.
Edie valued nature and being outdoors. She also enjoyed camping and shopping with her sisters. Edie liked going to Vogel family reunions with her sisters as well.
Edie regularly played pickleball in Perrysburg and kayaked the Maumee. She was particularly proficient in gardening and managing plants, and, she had a plot in Perrysburg’s Community Garden.
Edie was a regular poll worker in Perrysburg and frequently donated platelets and blood to the Red Cross. To relax, she enjoyed reading, doing tai-chi and cross-stitching.
Edie was preceded in death by her father and mother. She is survived by her two sons, Jason (Michelle) and Matt (Sandrine), and two granddaughters, Madison and Man. Her sisters include Lillian G. Vogel, Carolyn L. (Gerald) Meyer and Shirley M. (Paul) Gates. She also is survived by a nephew and a host of nieces.
In lieu of flowers and donations, friends are encouraged to walk in nature or play pickleball. The ceremony was private.
