FATICA July 2, 1950 - March 23, 2023 Douglas John Fatica passed away on March 23, 2023, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio. A graduate of St. Ignatius High School in Cleveland, and Xavier University, he went on to graduate from dental school at the Ohio State University in 1975. For more than 40 years, Dr. Fatica proudly served northwest Ohio patients at Fatica Family Dentistry.

A lifelong fan of Cleveland sports, Doug enjoyed watching Browns games every season and passed down his love to his four children. He transferred his success on the field at St. Ignatius to coaching, leading St. Rose Perrysburg’s CYO football team in the early 1980s. Growing up, the Fatica kids could always count on him to support them in their sporting pursuits. Inheriting his handiness from his carpenter father, Doug always made sure the house was in tip-top shape and all the family vehicles were properly maintained, while sharing his knowledge and skills with his sons.

He loved firing up the grill and lighting off an outrageous amount of fireworks for family and friends on the Fourth of July. Christmas was always a big event at the Faticas, with Doug blasting carols, enlisting the kids to help light up the whole outside and assembling whatever big gift the kids had to look forward to on Christmas morning.

In later years, he was active as a founding member of the Rivercrest Homeowners’ Association and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, John M. and Josephine Fatica. He is survived by his sisters, Pamela (Robert) Kups and Laurie (Richard) Kempf; wife, Linda Gloss Fatica; children, John (Abbey), Michael, Valerie and Joseph Fatica; many nieces and nephews, and four grandchildren.

A private service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Way Public Library Foundation and Friends or Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
