Doris McCollum, 90, formerly of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at Aperion Care, Marseilles, Illinois.
Following cremation rights entrusted to Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory, she will be buried in Ft. Meigs Union Cemetery, Perrysburg, in a private ceremony.
Born December 2, 1930, in Marseilles, Illinois, to George L. and Amelia (Case) Howell. She married Clifford McCollum on September 18, 1970, in Morris, Illinois.
She is survived by a sister, Margaret Wagner; a brother, Donald Howell; two daughters, Deborah (Gary) Miller and Francine Babcock; a son, Lewis Babcock; three stepsons, Clifford, Dean and Danny McCollum; a stepdaughter, Susan Houghtlin; nine grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren also survive.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Cliff; sister, Merietta Hanson; brother, Richard Howell; son, Robert Babcock Jr.; brothers-in-law, Dale McCollum and Don Wagner, and grandson, Paul Babcock.
Doris was a waitress at the Oasis Truck Stop in Ottawa, Illinois, where she met her husband, Cliff, and she was a member of the Ottawa VFW Auxiliary. She was the perfect mix of sugar and spice. Doris would tell you how it was while giving you candy from her pocket or purse. She enjoyed making gifts for friends and family, and was happiest giving to others.
Memorials may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
