Doris Elaine Dunn was born October 24, 1937, in Fremont, and died November 12, 2025, at Kingston of Perrysburg, one month after her husband Edwin died.
She graduated from Fremont Ross in 1955 and went on to the School of Nursing at Toledo Hospital, graduating in 1958. She married her high school sweetheart, David Hetrick, in 1959. They had one son, Mark.
In 1970, Doris married her second husband, Edwin Dunn, in Fremont. They were set up on a blind date by one of her friends who worked with Ed. They had a blended family with Ed’s son, Mike, and daughter, Maureen, from his previous marriage.
Ed’s job as a chemical engineer took him all over the world. So, Doris retired from nursing and became a stay-at-home mom to raise the kids. She was a great cook and even better baker.
When Ed retired, they moved to Perrysburg to be closer to the grandkids. Doris loved doting on her granddaughters, teaching them to bake and do arts and crafts. She and Ed’s favorite thing to do was take the grandkids to their cottage at Land Between the Lakes in Indiana.
Doris was a talented crafter, and made amazing crafts, through sewing, knitting, painting, custom cards. She could look at any item and turn it into something.
Besides her husband, Edwin, she was preceded in death by her parents and brother. She is survived by her son, Mark (Vicki); stepson, Mike (Sally), and stepdaughter, Maureen Maxand; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were private and handled by Witzler-Shank-Walker of Perrysburg. The family also would like to thank Rachel and Janet of Heartland Hospice for their loving care of Doris and Ed.
Donations can be made in her name to Heartland Hospice, the Humane Society of Toledo, or the 577 Foundation.
