Catherine Suzanne (Link) Cappelletty, 81, passed away suddenly on December 19, 2023, with family by her side. A music teacher at Saint Rose Catholic School in Perrysburg for 25 years, she was a skilled pianist with an excellent singing voice and was a church choir leader at St. Rose for many years. Cathy was kind, loving and thoughtful, with a generous spirit, a sharp sense of humor and a knack for making friends anywhere and everywhere.
Born January 14, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Dr. Gustave and Barbara Link, Cathy moved to Toledo when she was five, attending Rosary Cathedral Catholic School, St. Ursula Academy and later, Marquette University and the University of Toledo, where she studied music. She received her master of arts in music in 1993 from Bowling Green State University and retired from teaching in 2005. She moved from Perrysburg to Loveland, Ohio, to be closer to son, David, and his family in 2018. Cathy has always been strong, fighting past three bouts of breast cancer.
Cathy married florist Kenneth Cappelletty in October 1967 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Toledo and they were together for nearly 45 years. She is preceded in death by Ken and survived by sons, Mark (Jennifer) and David (Kelly); grandchildren, Ella and Sophia, and sister, Mary Link Frost. A beloved mother, Cathy saw her daughters-in-law as her children and bonded tightly with her granddaughters, who called her “Ma.”
The family would like to thank the doctors and staff in the cardiac ICU at Bethesda North Hospital in Montgomery, Ohio, as well as the doctors and nurses at Oncology Hematology Care in Blue Ash, Ohio.
Friends will be received between 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 29, at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg. A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 30, at 10:30 a.m., at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front Street, Perrysburg, with burial at Fort Meigs Union Cemetery.
