Billie Jo Griner, 73, of Perrysburg, passed away peacefully at Hospice of Northwest Ohio on September 2, 2023, following a brave and long battle with cancer.

Billie was born on September 4, 1949, in Evansville, Indiana. She was a local artist and was active in the Michigan Art Guild working on and exhibiting in the annual Ann Arbor Art Fair, as well as many more shows in the eastern USA. She was an animal lover and adored her kitties, Josie and Fred, who are missing her greatly. Billie prided herself on being unique and different, always saying what was on her mind and how she felt and her favorite phrase “you betcha.” Her laughter and advice will live on forever. Billie was loved and will be missed by those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Jim Griner; two sisters, Vickie (Dan) Rutkowski of Nokomis, Florida, and Deanna (Ken) Mateer of Huntley, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Debbie McKeand of Toledo, and her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William (Bill) and Josephine Yearby; her brother, Patrick, and sister, Mary Lee Miller.

A visitation will be held Friday, September 15, from 3 to 6:30 p.m., at Witz-ler Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Paws and Whiskers Cat Shelter or to Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Billie’s name.
