•ALBERTA GERTRUDE (FROELICH) KWIATKOWSKI
Alberta Gertrude (Froelich) Kwiatkowski, age 94, passed away peacefully on May 24, 2025, in Toledo. Born on December 27, 1930, in Defiance, and married to Kenneth on August 16, 1958, Alberta lived a life marked by her deep Catholic faith, a feisty personality, creativity and a deep love for her family.
Alberta was a registered nurse whose commitment to caring for others extended far beyond her professional life. She made bags of sandwiches for the poor, cooked for funeral lunches and volunteered at the hospice center. A life-long learner, she pursued her passions well into her later years, adapting as the arthritis and Alzheimer’s crept in.
Her talents were many— she was a gifted artisan who found joy in quilting, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, card making, sewing and ceramics. She enjoyed sharing her crafts with family, friends and the soldiers who received her cards. Alberta cherished time spent playing card and board games, including no holds barred Aggravation, fast card, and Witches Rummy. She and Ken rode their bikes all over Maumee, as well as travelled and cruised the world where she loved to learn about local cultures. Most of all, she loved entertaining the family at the trailer and cooking meals for her family. Her goulash and chicken noodle soup were grandchildren favorites.
Alberta is survived by her loving children, Kevin (Anne), Jack (LeeAnn), Ann (Bill) and Keith; her cherished grandchildren, Megan (Charles Rittenhouse), Kelly, Matt (Meghann), Mark (Abby), Eric (Rachel), Billy and Andy, and her nine greatgrandchildren. She also is survived by her sister, Kate Donley, and sister-in-law, Marcie Froelich.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Ken; her parents, Paul and Caroline; her sister, Alice (Jim Shortridge), and her brother, Jerry.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Maumee, at 10:30 a.m. There will be visitation one hour before at the church, where family and friends will gather to honor and celebrate Alberta’s extraordinary life.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s research, Swan Creek Ohio Living or Hospice of Northwestern Ohio Alberta gave us a foundation of faithfulness to God and family, the wings to follow our dreams and the love to spread throughout the world. Rest in His peace.
