Betty Jo Rieck, a longtime Perrysburg resident, died on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Manor of Perrysburg.

Betty was born in 1928 in Detroit, Michigan, to Joseph and Katherine (Cody) Philby, and grew up in Wisconsin. She attended beauty school after graduating high school and practiced cosmetology for many years. She married her best friend and partner, Warren Rieck, in 1955, in Spring Prairie, Wisconsin, and they shortly thereafter moved to Perrysburg, where they started their family.

Betty and Warren belonged to the German Club and loved to celebrate their heritage. She was wellknown for the vast cookie jar collection she built up over the years. She was an avid garage-saler, but would happily spend time with her family and friends for any reason.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren; son, Bryan (Pam); son, Brent; sisters, Mildred (Virgil) and Charlotte (Bob) Aldrich, and great-nephew, David Mabry.

She is survived by her grandson, Asher K. Rieck; nieces, JoAnn (Randy) Timms and Kay (Bill) Welch; great-nieces, Pam Kelm, Paula Zwieg, Patti Pagel and Kristine Burch, and great-nephews, David Zwieg, Denny Koehnke and Joe Welch.

There will be a private graveside service held at New Belleville Ridge Joint Cemetery, where Betty will be interred.

To honor her love of bird watching, memorial gifts may be made to the Ohio Bird Sanctuary, 3774 Orweiler Road, Mansfield, Ohio 44903.
