Gloria S. (Garno) Granata, 84, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2026, surrounded by her children. She was born in 1942, to Daniel A. and Rosalie J. Garno. Gloria attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and Notre Dame Academy.
Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, greatgrandmother, sister and friend who touched the lives of many throughout her years. She was an active and dedicated member of her community, including the Toledo Opera Guild, and was awarded the Grey Nuns, and
the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center 1999 Women of Toledo. She also served on several boards throughout her life, including Toledo Day Nursery, MidAm Bank and the Franklin Park Mall Merchant’s Association.
Gloria began her career in banking, but she was perhaps best known as the proud owner of Sweet Elegance, a gourmet chocolate store at Franklin Park Mall, which she owned and operated for more than 20 years. She most recently worked as an assistant manager at Chico’s at Levis Commons in Perrysburg.
Those who knew Gloria will remember her for her warmth, generosity, strong spirit and genuine love for her family. She cherished the time she spent with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her family was at the heart of her life.
Gloria is survived by her sister, Diana J. Garno; her children, Kevin Lent and Tracy (Michael) Lowe; stepchildren, Thomas (Wendy) Granata Jr. and Valerie (David) Barlow; grandchildren, Jennifer Briggs, Emily (Brad) Krieger, Sydney Lent and Hunter (Paige) Lent; step-grandchildren, TJ Granata, Lorianne Granata, Kim (Matt) Rinaldi and Deanna (Derek) Howard; greatgrandchildren, Max, Grant, Callie, Summer and Gianna, and many nieces and nephews.
Gloria was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel A. and Rosalie J. Garno; her brother, Daniel Garno; her husbands, Gerald F. Lent and Thomas E. Granata, and her grandson, Michael Lowe.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Gloria’s life on Thursday, August 20, from 2 to 8 p.m., at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 21, at 10 a.m., followed by burial at Calvary Cemetery, 2224 Dorr Street, Toledo.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
