At approximately 10:55 p.m. on August 5, the Perrysburg Fire Division was dispatched to the 300 block of Three Meadows Court following reports of a fire in an apartment building.

Fire crews arrived to find a working fire on the second- floor of a 30-unit apartment building. Firefighters located and removed one occupant. Despite lifesaving efforts, the occupant was pronounced deceased at the scene.
