Shirley Huber, 88, passed away Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, in Powell, Ohio.
Shirley was born in Olney, Illinois, in 1937. She graduated from Libbey High School after her family moved to Toledo. In August 1958, she married James Huber, and they enjoyed 48 years of marriage together. In her professional life, she proudly worked at Ohio Citizens, finishing her career at State Farm Insurance.
Throughout her life, she loved to bowl, golf, shop and play cards–an activity she was sure to instill a love for in her grandchildren. She loved parades, going to the casino, gardening, dining out and spending time with friends. Prior to her husband’s death, winters were spent at their condo in Naples, Florida, and summers at their cottage on Marble Lake in Michigan, which were yearly highlights.
She and her husband were the heart of a large extended family, hosting countless holiday meals and get-togethers, where there were always plenty of “snicky snacks” and Diet Coke. She loved candy, especially candy corn and jelly beans, as well as Frostys, Mexican food, chili dogs, french fries, and crisp bacon.
Shirley was a great conversationalist, whose quick wit and honesty will be missed, especially by her grandchildren, who found her endlessly amusing. She lived life doing it her own way, even at the very end.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Connie (Tom) Schmidt; her sons, Michael (Paula) and Richard (Crystal) Huber; four grandchildren, and eight greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, August and M. Marie Greenwalt; her sister, Linda Yantiss, and her beloved husband, James Huber.
Services will be private and handled by Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg.
