Joyce Witzler Walker, 85, wife of David Louis Walker, passed away, Thursday, November 20, 2025, at Good Samaritan Hospital. Born March 9, 1940, in Toledo, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Marcena Hobart Witzler.

Joyce attended Perrysburg High School and graduated with a master’s degree in speech-language pathology from Kent State University. Her career included providing therapy services in the schools and private practice, as well as serving in clinical director and supervisor roles at the University of Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky University, where she instructed graduate students particularly in her specialty of fluency.

Joyce was known for her famous Christmas letters and her love of chocolate, reading, Torch Lake and Willow Glen. Her greatest joy, however, came from watching her grandson’s baseball games and her granddaughter’s vocal performances.

Besides her husband, whom Joyce was married to for 59 years, she is survived by a daughter, Karen Walker, Lexington; two grandchildren, Walker Anthony Buehler (McKenzie) and Bella Maye Walker; a greatgrandchild, Finley Wren Buehler; a sister, Marilyn Witzler Hovorka, Valley City, Ohio; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Witzler, Montague, Michigan; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dr. James David Witzler and Earl Norman Witzler, and two sisters, Dolores Witzler and Margaret Witzler Furlong.

Honorary pallbearers include Mike Williams, Shelley Jackson, and Susan and Randy Collins.

Special thanks to Dr. Gregory Hood and his team for years of attentive and compassionate care.

Visitation will begin at 11 a.m., Saturday, November. 29, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, Kentucky, with a memorial service immediately following at 1 p.m.

Contributions in Joyce’s honor are suggested to Planned Parenthood Kentucky (ppgnhaik.org).
