Peggy Tasnadi, age 66, of Perrysburg, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 18, 2025, while with her beloved husband, John Tasnadi. Peggy was born on November 25, 1958, to Richard and Patricia Greene in Toledo. She graduated from the University of Toledo College of Education with both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in education. These educational achievements, and all educational endeavors, were a source of pride and admiration for Peggy, which inspired her children to pursue their own advanced degrees. Peggy was a teacher for 28 years prior to her retirement, with most of those years being spent with Maumee City Schools. Peggy primarily taught early elementary levels, and she had a special fondness for her years teaching kindergarten. The advent of the “smart board” and other technological teaching advances were Peggy’s sworn enemies as she approached retirement.
Children were the one constant that brought joy to Peggy’s life. She touched the lives of hundreds of students and student teachers who she instructed over the course of her 28 years of teaching.
Nearly every time Peggy went out in public with her family she would be approached by an adoring former student. She purported to have almost fainted the first time a new student exclaimed “you taught my mom!”
Most recently, Peggy’s grandchildren had her heart.
First, her grandchildren through John, Olivia, Heather and Natalie, and, then, her son’s children, Jack and Summer. Peggy sought any and every opportunity to spend time with her grandchildren. She once took a red-eye flight during COVID to care for her very contagious grandson as he healed from hand foot and mouth disease. Gift giving was Peggy’s love language for her grandchildren, much to their parents’ dismay.
Holidays and birthdays necessitated dozens of trips to the car to retrieve whatever had not already been sent through Amazon. Her grandchildren enjoyed receiving books from her the most, because they were always accompanied by one-on-one reading time with grandma.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband, John; her daughter, Mary (Ryan) Fenner; son, Danny (Susie) Iten; step-daughter, Megan Ren (Lining); brother, Richard Greene Jr. (Natalie), and grandchildren, Summer, Jack, Olivia, Heather and Natalie. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Don Iten, and her parents, Richard and Patricia Greene.
