Peter Gwyn, 80, of Perrysburg, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in Bergen, Norway. Born December 9, 1943, to James and Alice Gwyn, in Perrysburg, Peter was an avid traveler, tennis player, fisherman and an appreciator of good red wine. His family describes him as smart, loving, proud, a bit surly, funny, stubborn and a great advice giver.
Peter graduated from Perrysburg High School in 1961, before receiving his political science degree from Marietta College in 1965. He went on to earn his law degree from the University of Toledo and serve in the U.S. Air Force for six years. Peter worked as the law director for the City of Perrysburg for 26 years, while maintaining his own private practice. He also served on the boards of the 577 Foundation and Historic Perrysburg in varying roles.
In 1968, Peter married Marilyn Knepp and in the ensuing years had four children, Daniel (Anna), Alan (Michele), Geoffrey (Samantha) and Emily (fiancé, Greg Ryder). He is blessed with seven grandchildren, Owen, Kaylee, Dylan, Reid, Alex, Avery and Cora.

After retiring in 2008, Peter and Marilyn built a house in Sault St. Marie, Ontario, to which they enjoyed spending their time, in between their travels across the country.
He was preceded in death by his parents and beloved wife, Marilyn. His brother, James (Keeva) Gwyn, and sister, Alice Shepherd, survive.
Peter passed away while traveling with his partner, Lucy Regueyra, on one of their favorite European adventures. The two shared a love of travel and have spent the past few years seeing the world.
In accordance with Peter’s wishes, there will be no public or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. A private celebration of life will be held in his honor at a later date.
