David L. Beck passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on April 1, 2024. He lived a full, productive and happy life for almost 88 years with his wife, Janet (Rupp), by his side for 65 of those years. He was a wonderful man and an eternal jokester with a wicked sense of humor.

Dave was born in Perrysburg, on April 7, 1936, to Martha and Bob Beck. He grew up fishing, hunting and causing mischief all over the tiny village of Perrysburg. He lived in and loved the outdoors. He attended Michigan State University, Bowling Green State University, and graduated with a master’s degree from the University of Toledo. Dave and Janet married in 1957, and they settled in Perrysburg on Fifth Street. Dave taught biology at Perrysburg High School and Janet worked as a banker. They had three children, Steve, Michelle and Cameron.

In 1968, Dave and Janet purchased some property on Constant Lake in Douglas, Ontario, Canada, and built two cabins there; one for them and their children, the other for friends and for when their children were grown. They spent every summer there for 54 years. Their children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren have all gotten to spend time there and live that beautiful lake life that you can only find at Constant Lake. It seemed that Dave would have something new and fun for the grandkids to do each summer, including creating compass trails for all the kids on the lake and even giving out prizes to the winners. He loved the outdoors and passed that love on to his kids and the entire family.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Janet. He is survived by his children, Steve (Beth) Beck, Michelle (Paul) Pinkava and Cameron (Elizabeth) Beck; his nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A true Celebration of Life will be held for Dave and Janet on Friday, May 17, at the Schaller Memorial Building, 130 West Indiana Avenue, Perrysburg, from 6 to 9 p.m. Come celebrate their beautiful lives with us.
