Larry Joseph Rogers, 61, of Toledo, passed away on January 27, 2024, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio with his mother by his side. He was born on June 21, 1962 to the late Laurence “Larry” and Mary (Schwind) Rogers of Perrysburg.

He attended St. Rose Elementary and Perrysburg High School. He enjoyed nature, fishing, hunting and playing guitar. He was well known for his amazing painting skills, his wildly creative mind establishing the Snowman Preservation Society and over the top music presentation aptly titled “The Show.”

He had a kind and loving heart, known for doing anything for those around him. Noticing smoke coming from a neighboring apartment, he leapt into action, breaking through the window and removing the occupants before the fire department arrived. Accomplishing this heroic act all the while a cigarette hung from his lips, he jokingly called it the Bruce Willis move.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Laurence Rogers, and his infant brother, Mark David Rogers.

He is survived by his mother, Mary Rogers; sister, Christine (Rogers) Schaller; brother-in-law, Steven Schaller; nieces, Sarah and Jennifer Schaller; many cousins, and special friends, Wendy McCloud, Tim, Alex, Mike, Sandy, Tammy and many others.

Larry was placed to rest at St. Rose Cemetery at a private burial service on January 31, 2024.

A special thank you to Father George O’Reilly at Toledo Hospital, the nurses and staff of Legacy Perrysburg and Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, Father Kyle Gase and Deacon Charles McDaniel of St. Rose Church, and the other loving hearts that touched Larry during the final steps of his life’s journey.
