Members sworn in at city council meeting

The first city council meeting of 2024 addressed a number of organizational matters including the swearing in of two new members, Rick Rettig and Kerry Wellstein. Returning council member Tim McCarthy was sworn in for his 10th term, while Cory Kuhlman–who was not present– will be sworn in for his second term at council’s January 16 meeting.

What goes around comes around, and that seems to be the case when it comes to Wylie & Sons Landscaping, 27226 Glenwood Road, Perrysburg Township. Periodically over the last 10 years, nearby residents and business owners have complained about the company dumping debris on the roads; running overweight vehicles up and down Glenwood, causing the road to prematurely deteriorate; shining lights and operating 24/7, and causing problems for neighboring businesses with their water source.

Several contested seats to be decided by voters on March 19

Republican voters will be asked to decide among several contested seats at the March 19 primary election. At the state level, State Representative Haraz Ghanbari of Perrysburg, who represents the 75th district, is being challenged by Sally Culling, also of Perrysburg.

Wood County commissioners approve budget for 2024

At the December 21 meeting, the Wood County commissioners adopted the 2024 budget for $135.48 million. Of that amount, $52.64 million is dedicated to the general fund, which includes the sheriff’s jail, $5.37 million; insurance, workers compensation and Medicare, $4.8 million; sheriff’s department, $4.33 million; Ohio Public Employees Retirement System, $4.1 million; all county, $3.24 million; buildings and grounds, $2.84 million; prosecuting attorney, $2.38 million; sheriff’s communication center, $1.76 million; juvenile detention home, $1.48 million; other items, $1.43 million; board of elections, $1.3 million; budget stabilization, $1.35 million; public defender, $1.29 million; debt transfers, $1.29 million, and common pleas court general division, $1.25 million.

Fourth quarter tax payments due January 15

The City of Perrysburg Income Tax Division reminds residents that estimated tax payments are due by Monday, January 15. Vouchers and instructions are available at ci.perrysburg.oh.us or in the atrium of the Municipal Building, 201 West Indiana Avenue.

Perrysburg Twp. food distribution

The Perrysburg Township food distribution will be held Thursday, January 11, from 8 to 10 a.m. The township fire department will sponsor the food give-away at the township building, 26609 Lime City Road, the second Thursday of each month.
