Christ Child Society to host celebrity wait night Nov. 6

Christ Child Society’s (CCS) annual celebrity wait night will be held at 6 p.m., Monday, November 6, at the Pinnacle, 1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee. Proceeds from this year’s event will go toward providing new winter coats, hats and gloves to Toledoarea children in need as well as hygiene kits, books and layettes for newborns.

Area residents continue to voice opposition to proposed roundabout at Route 25, Front Street

A number of Perrysburg residents continue to voice their opposition to a proposed roundabout at State Route 25 and Front Street. At the October 17 meeting, city council heard from residents who contend that the proposal would jeopardize pedestrian safety in the area, along with making it difficult to enter and exit Orleans Park, the entrance of which is situated about 100 yards from the intersection.

Work progressing on Corporate Drive bldg. acquired by Penta

Work is progressing on Penta Career Center’s recently acquired building at 1205 Corporate Drive, Holland. At the October 10 school board meeting, Ryan Lee, center director, said demolition of the interior is complete, and they are now entering the design and construction phase.

‘A Touch of Glass’ theme of concert at Zoar Nov. 4

Third quarter crash statistics show increase in fatalities, serious injuries

While high scores in academics or sports are a good thing, the same cannot be said of crash statistics, which took an alarming jump in Wood County over the third quarter of 2023. Sandy Wiechman, coordinator of Safe Communities of Wood County, said the fatal data review committee met October 10 and reviewed 25 crashes, 10 of which resulted in fatalities between July 1 and September 24.
