Stella’s Restaurant features work of local artists

Patrick Lahey, owner and proprietor of Stella’s Restaurant and Bar in downtown Perrysburg, is showcasing paintings by local artists for patrons to enjoy while having their meals.

“This is brand new, starting January 1,” Mr. Lahey said. “Stella’s is eclectic, and we wanted togive artists an opportunity to display and maybe sell their art. It’s great for our customers, too. Many of them ask me about the paintings and the artists.”

On display are paintings from Christine Deemer, Mary Jane Erard, Kathryn Housepian and Dave Wisniewski.

Mr. Lahey anticipates he will switch out the paintings every three months to keep the exhibit fresh.”I don’t receive a commission,” Mr. Lahey noted. “I enjoy looking at the art and helping the artists. I’ve always had an interest in art.”

Mr. Lahey bought the restaurant in 2016.

“Owning a restaurant was a dream of mine for a long time,” he said. “Actually, I wanted to be a chef so this is a dream come true.”

Staying open through the pandemic was challenging early on, he said.

“We were a fine dining establishment and then switched to carry out. Lately, people from Michigan have been driving down, which also has helped.”

Patrons interested in purchasing art may do so directly from the artists who have left contact information with Mr. Lahey.

Stella’s is located at 104 Louisiana Avenue.
