Julia (Judy) Ellen Hood, 85, of Crystal River, Florida, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. She was born in Avon, Maine, to Bertha and Cecil White. Julia lived out her passion caring for the elderly, beginning as a nurse’s aide and then received her nursing degree from Bowling Green School of Practical Nursing at the age 44. She worked in nursing homes in Ohio and later in Maine.

In their retirement years, Julia and her husband, spent their time between Florida and Maine, and finally decided to move to Florida permanently in 2002. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching her birds and activities with her friends. She enjoyed singing in the choir at church, and her most favorite solo was “Just A Closer Walk With Thee.” Julia never met a stranger and would have long conversations with people she just met, always leaving with a smile.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks to consider donating to Yankeetown Community Church, 4640 Highway 40 West, Box 88, Yankeetown, Florida.
