Janet Elizabeth (Tobey) Hurley, 97, passed away November 2, 2021, in Grand Prairie, Texas. She was born May 4, 1924, in Mercy Hospital, Toledo, Ohio, to John O. and Lulu (Swint) Tobey. She was married on April 19, 1950, in Denver, Colorado to Lt. Col. Joseph Hurley.

Janet graduated from Perrysburg High in 1942, enrolling in nursing school at Mercy Hospital. Upon graduating as an RN, she entered the Army as a first lieutenant. She lived in two countries, nine states. Her greatest achievement was being the best mother to seven children.

She is survived by her children, Martha Hurley, Eric Hurley, Patrick Hurley, Christopher Hurley, Clarissa Hurley, Laura Hurley and Robert Hurley; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margaret Rinehart and Patricia Morrison; husband, Lt. Col. Joseph Hurley, and grandson, Dakota Hurley.

A memorial will be held Friday, November 19, at 5 p.m. in Uptown Theater, Grand Prairie, Texas. Services will be held Saturday, November 20, at 2 p.m. in Ridge, Texas. Arrangements are being handled by Grand Prairie Funeral Home.
