James N. Bilkovsky, 87, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed February 23, 2022. James was born in Toledo, on October 14, 1934, to Norman and Hilda Bilkovsky. He married Shirley Fisher of Genoa, and they have been married 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; nephews, Lawrence Wagner of Maumee; David Wagner of Bradford of Avon, United Kingdom; Peter Wagner of Cambridge, Massachusetts; William Wagner of Media, Pennsylvania, and niece, Kim Caris of Toledo.

He retired from Toledo Edison after 38 years. After a brief time, he then went to work for Detroit Edison as a contractor for six years, and Hancock-Wood Electric for two years. Finally retiring, he rekindled interest in wood-working and also helped set up the Woodcraft store in Toledo, where he worked and taught for a few years.

Jim served in the U.S. Army for six years as staff sergeant (Sgt. Bilko). He was president of the Illuminating Engineering Society, Electro Club of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg Chamber of Commerce, and he was on the board of directors of Perrysburg Kiwanis.

Jim had a deep interest in boating, which led to being commodore and secretary of Indian Hill Boat Club in Maumee. He also was a member of the Blue Gavel and president of Toledo A Float (Willis B. Boyer freighter).

Friends and family will be received Thursday, March 3, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, where a celebration of James’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Clay Township Cemetery.
