James E. Podiak, 78, of Perrysburg, passed away Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Toledo Hospital. James was born December 14, 1942, in Toledo, Ohio, to Edward and Sally (Adamczeski) Podiak. He graduated from Rossford High School and then went on to earn his bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University. He married Janet E. Biniker on June 11, 1966. They spent 54 wonderful years together and raised two daughters in Perrysburg.
Jim worked for Chrysler for 35 years, retiring in 2001. He trained for one year at the Chrysler Highland Park headquarters in Michigan, and then was transferred to Toledo Machining Plant in Perrysburg when it opened in 1966. He was a retired quality manager at FCA, Toledo Machining. He was a proud member and supporter of the NCRO, NRLN and Retirees Group. Jim arranged monthly luncheons for all retirees and communicated all pertinent information. Jim was a respected member and will be missed by his family and friends.
Jim loved to travel and enjoyed photography. After retirement he loved spending time with his granddaughter, Lilly; whom he adored.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janet; daughters, Pam (Kris) Moe and Kara (Dave) Mihalik; granddaughter, Lilly Mihalik, and brother, Donald Podiak. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Linda (Emch) Podiak.
Services for Jim will be private. A celebration of Jim’s life will be held at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to WitzlerShank Walker Funeral Home, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Condolences may be made online to the family at walkerfuneralhomes.com.
