A debate over whether to install delineators, shown above, on Holiday Lane to avoid traffic stacking up onto U.S. Route 20 is about to move to the public sector.

At the March 16 meeting, the Perrysburg Township trustees set a public hearing for 4 p.m., Wednesday, April 20, at the township meeting hall, 26609 Lime City Road.

The issue arose during the COVID-19 pandemic when Starbucks closed indoor service and patrons were only able to use the drive through.

Traffic was stacking from Holiday Lane to U.S. Route 20 creating unsafe conditions along Route 20.

Trustee Gary Britten suggested delineators be installed to prohibit a left turn, noting they will force traffic to proceed down Holiday Lane and circle back to Starbucks, eliminating problems on Route 20.

“I’d like to see this move forward,” he said.

Trustee Bob Mack pointed out that the problem has not been an issue for several months and with Biggby’s opening soon at French Quarter Square, he believes the impact on traffic patterns will be alleviated even further.

Trustee Joe Schaller concurred, noting he hasn’t seen stacking there in a while. “In fact, I think it’s worse at Chick-fil-A.”

Mr. Mack said he is hopeful that when Raising Canes opens, it will reduce the traffic volume at Chick-fil-A.

Mr. Britten said he would still like to hold a public meeting for input, and the trustees agreed.

They directed administrator Walt Celley to send a letter to area businesses impacted by the proposed change, notifying them of the hearing.
