John S. Meloy, 88, of Perrysburg, passed away Thursday, February 10, 2022, at Waterford at Levis Commons. John was born January 29, 1934, in Orange, New Jersey, to William and Esther (Selby) Meloy. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army.

John went to Washington Lee University and transferred to Bowling Green State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism. His first job was a sports writer for the Washington Star and this is where he met the love of his life, Cynthia. They married November 1961 and shared 58 years together, until she passed on October 15, 2020. John was a lifelong member of Maumee First Presbyterian Church. He was an avid runner, completing more than five marathons, and was a lifelong tennis player. He enjoyed investing in the stock market and was a history buff. John participated in the Toast Masters and loved his boxers and shelties. He also enjoyed vacationing in Pentwater, Michigan and Hilton Head, South Carolina.

He is survived by his sons, John (Lorrell) Meloy and Mark (Heather) Meloy; grandchildren, Joshua Meloy, Meghan and Daniel Meloy, and brother and sister-in-law, Steven (Ginny) Meloy. Along with his wife, Cindy, John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Joan Schoenberger.

Friends and family will be received Friday, February 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg.
