Perrysburg residents Jennifer and Chris Vickers ran as St. Jude Heroes in the St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend last Saturday.

“Together, we raised $4,960 for the hospital,” Mrs. Vickers said. “We ran a halfmarathon and finished in under two hours.”

Mr. Vickers is chief meteorologist for WTOL-News 11 in Toledo and, each year, raises money for St. Jude.

“St. Jude represents the dream of the founder, Toledo’s Danny Thomas,” said Mr. Vickers. “His generosity is alive and well today. No child or family ever receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food. Our part in the St. Jude Memphis Weekend was to be the voice for all kids in their fight against pediatric cancer. The fund-raising efforts go directly to support this mission, medical care and world class research to find the cure.”

Locally, the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway has raised more than $5.5 million dollars since its return in 2017.

“It’s been the honor of a lifetime to lead this program locally, back in the hometown of Danny Thomas,” said Mr. Vickers. “It has become one of the fastest growing and largest St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway campaigns in the nation. The generosity of this community and support for St. Jude is incredible.”
