Kenneth “Ken” A. Mahler Sr., 72, of Perrysburg, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Otterbein in Perrysburg. Ken was born June 29, 1949, in Toledo, Ohio, to Bernard and Glenna (Ruffing) Mahler. He married Patricia Muraski on June 22, 1968, and they shared 53 years together. He graduated in 1967 from Perrysburg High School, while attending Penta Career Center.
Ken worked as an auto mechanic for Ed Schmidt in Perrysburg for 47 years. Back in his earlier years, he enjoyed driving his ’59 Chevy Impala around town and worked as a volunteer for the Troy Township Fire and EMS. He also enjoyed working in the yard and being outdoors, especially riding his bike around town and stopping in at Kazmaier’s. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers, Notre Dame and Detroit Tigers fan. Cars also were a passion of Ken’s and he enjoyed many visits to car shows over the years. Ken’s greatest love were his children and grandchildren, never missing a sporting event.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Kenneth (Laurie) Mahler Jr., Stacey (Bradly) Stezoski and Melissa Mahler; grandchildren, Kaleb, Jenna, Lauren, Amelia, Chance and Audrey; siblings, Laura (Douglas) Smith and Diane (Gary) Robison; nephews, Greg (Stephanie) Smith, Steve Smith, Andrew (Karen) Robison and Kyle Robison; sister-in-law, Joan (Bill) Tilton, and brother-in-law, Thomas Muraski. Ken was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Linda Boomgarden.
Friends and family were received Sunday, November 28, from 2 to 6 p.m., at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg (419-874-3133). Prayers were recited in the funeral home Monday, November 29, at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Rose Catholic Church, 215 East Front Street, Perrysburg, at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed in St. Rose Cemetery.
