Downtown Perrysburg Inc. (DPI) and the Perrysburg Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) announce the installation of art sculptures at Riverside Park. The installation was created by Graphite Design + Build.

In January 2020, the CVB awarded DPI sponsorship money for local community summer events.

When the pandemic halted public events, DPI stayed committed to using the funds for the good of the community.

Board member Brandi Parcell led this charge alongside former board member and past president, Kati McDougle, and the rest of the DPI board. Together they collaborated with the City of Perrysburg, the Toledo Arts Commission, the Historic Landmarks Commission, Graphite Design + Build, Yarder Manufacturing, Riker Products, Sharp Finishing and other community members.

“The airplane design is intended to be a nod to the variety of “birds in flight” at Riverside Park with a modern pop art twist to match this contemporary park. Additionally, paper airplanes are timeless, opening thoughtful artistic interpretations with references to the past, present, and future.” said Brandi Parcell, project lead. “The color scheme is designed to resemble a sunrise and sunset with the colors looking slightly different during different times of day. Each 300 pound, powder coated steel airplane is strategically positioned to represent the 12 airplanes landing and then taking flight again.”

DPI will use their social platforms to collaborate with the community to name the sculpture.

The sculpture will have a dedication ceremony in the coming weeks, unveiling the name. DPI and the CVB will also gift the installation to the City of Perrysburg, as a permanent feature at Riverside Park.
