Stacey Bunker has been named Perrysburg Schools’ fall 2021 Shining Star award recipient. She is the school psychologist at Perrysburg Junior High School and Fort Meigs Elementary School and an assistive technology specialist.

The award is presented only twice annually to an employee who is nominated by colleagues. A panel representing a cross-section of the district chooses the recipient from a pool of nominees.

The Griffioen Insurance Agency also recognized her with a gift certificate.

Andrea Monheim, PJHS school counselor, submitted the following nomination:

“Stacey Bunker goes above and beyond for the students and our teachers at the junior high as our school psychologist. “First, she is so well

“First, she is so wellprepared for all ETR and IEP meetings. She is very thorough and detailed and runs the meetings with positivity and professionalism.

“Next, when assessing a student, Stacey is so welcoming, kind and caring. She makes all students feel comfortable in a setting that might cause some anxiety or nervousness. She puts all students at ease and personalizes each setting for specific needs of the students. Stacey will go out of her way to meet students and to get to know them prior to sitting them down for testing.

“She is a team player. Stacey regularly attends team meetings and offers advice and solutions to teachers. She is a really good listener and is also willing to help solve problems and come up with solutions that benefit students and teachers.

“Stacey runs our data meetings quarterly. She spends many hours making spreadsheets that have accurate and updated information. Those spreadsheets are very comprehensive and staff members look at those spreadsheets (Benchmark data and Progress Monitoring data) throughout the year. We make important decisions based on the data.

“Stacey is part of our BLT [building leadership team]. She shares valuable information at our meetings and is willing to be on sub committees to help serve our staff. Stacey does not receive compensation for being on the BLT, but feels it is a very important committee to share her knowledge and help out when she can.

“Finally, I have witnessed on multiple occasions where Stacey will comfort a crying student, counsel an angry student or just help a lost student. She is a valuable member of our staff who is very deserving of this award.”
