Lt. Colonel Robert Nelson Shilling, age 90, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away in his home on Wednesday, August 4, 2021. He was born on July 23, 1931, to Theodore and Viva (Sleesman) Shilling in Corning, Ohio.
Robert retired from the U.S. Army, where he was employed in the finance department. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Bob was an active member at the Perrysburg Alliance Church. He and his late wife, Mary Ellen, were involved in local and international missions, and served as directors of the 700 Club Toledo Volunteer Center.
He is survived by his children, Ann (Dennis), Robert Jr. (Sandra), Marilyn; grandchildren, Kristin (Nathan) Brandon, Brian, Jordan (Whitney), Joel, Robby, Catherine, Emily, Sarah, and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ellen; son, Ken; sisters, Sandra Palmer, and infant, Marilyn Shilling.
Family and friends were received at Witzler-Shank-Walker Funeral Home, 222 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, on Friday, August 6, from 10 to 11 a.m. The funeral service was at 11 a.m. Graveside services were private.
