Sally A. Eward, age 81, of Maumee, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, July 11, 2021, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Martins Ferry, Ohio, on June 7, 1940, to Jack C. and Norma S. (Bishop) Johns.
Sally was a 1958 graduate of Martins Ferry High School and attended Bethany College, graduating in 1962 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She married the love of her life, Jesse J. Eward, on November 3, 1962, and he survives.
Her memberships included First United Methodist Church and their women’s group, and Alpha XI Delta Sorority. Sally was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, band mom, home mom, schoolteacher and taught nursery school. She ∏ enjoyed sewing, knitting, the Cleveland Browns and Indians, and spending time with her grandchildren. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be dearly missed.
Surviving is her husband, Jesse; children, Jesse Eward III, Sarah (Darvin) Biederstedt, John (Leigh) Eward; grandchildren, Jacob Willford, Andrew (Kara) Willford, Emma Eward and Alexander “Alex” Eward; step-grandchildren, Joshua “Josh” (Jodi) Biederstedt, Anna (Chad) Pittman, and sister, Ellen (Larry) Bosetti. Also surviving is one niece and one nephew. In addition to her parents, Sally was preceded in death by her father and mother-in-law, Jesse J. and Ellen E. (Collige) Eward.
Friends and family were received at the Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant Street, Maumee, on Thursday, July 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. Additional visitation took place in the funeral home on Friday, July 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Interment followed at Hoy Cemetery, Napoleon.
