The Country Garden Club conservation committee joined with Partners for Clean Streams on Earth Day for a clean-up along the Maumee River at Orleans Park.

CGC members removed nearly 40 pounds of trash that included fishing line, bobbers, cigarette butts, bottles, miscellaneous plastic, foam, clothing and a pair of sandals.

Community volunteers Pat Smith, Molly Strader and Mary Jane Strader helped with the clean-up.

Kris Patterson, executive director of Partners for Clean Streams and Olivia Simkins Bullock, program coordinator, accompanied the CGC and provided all necessary equipment.

According to CGC conservation co-chair, Kim Frazier, it was a very successful event, and the committee plans to participate in a “Clean Your Streams 365” in the future.
