The Gathering of Quilters will meet Thursday, April 15, at 7 p.m., with featured speaker Gretchen Schultz.

Ms. Schultz has collected textiles and sewing tools for more than 40 years.

She shared her quilts and tops in classes she taught while an owner of the Quilt Foundry in Maumee.

She continues to lecture on various quilt styles and her extensive collection of antique sewing tools. Well known for making memory quilts, she also is versed in restoring or stabilizing damaged quilts. She will share the tradition of bed turning with antique quilts.

Attendees will get an up close look at quilts from her collection as they are individually shown. The quilts and tops will be laid out on tables as they would look on a bed.

One-by-one, quilts from the mid-1800s to 1940 with various patterns, techniques and fabrics will be discussed.

The Gathering of Quilters meets at Holland Free Methodist Church, 6605 Angola Road, Holland. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There is a non-member fee of $5. The group strives to promote the art and craft of quilt making.
