The Wood County sheriff’s department is increasing patrols over St. Patrick’s Day.

The traffic biliz, funded from an Ohio Traffic Safety grant, runs through Thursday, March 18.

“Deputies will pay particular attention to violations such as driving under the influence, failure to yield and speeding,” Sheriff Mark Wasylyshyn said, noting that all of these violations are leading factors in fatal crashes.

“There will be zero tolerance for driving under the influence and seat belt violations,” he added.
