Owl Hike
Offered from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., on Thursday, December 9 at Bradner Preserve and December 23 at Cedar Creeks Preserve.
Join a night hike to look and listen for these elusive creatures. Attendees will be looking and listening for screech and great horned owls, and listening to the calls of other species that are occasionally seen in the area.
Monthly Nature Journaling Meetup
Offered select Saturdays, from 1 to 3 p.m., December through February.

Stop by for monthly nature journaling. Join local Ohio Certified Volunteer Naturalists and build your nature journaling skills. The group will discuss nature journaling, share techniques and spend time outside. All are welcome. The group will meet at a different park for each meeting to get to know the many locations Wood County has to offer.
A Heritage Holiday
Meet on Saturday, December 11, from 1 to 4 p.m., for Carter Historic Farm to share some seasonal cheer at the farm’s open house. There will be carols played on the player piano, ornament making and other activities for the whole family. No registration needed for this community event that is free and open to all. Base Camp Stories: Fort to Port: An Adventure on the Maumee River
Offered Thursday, December 16, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at W.W. Knight Nature Preserve. In 2019, four bold kayakers embarked to thrupaddle the entire 137 miles of the Maumee River in four days. Half of the expedition members, Wood County Parks senior naturalist Bill Hoefflin and Metroparks Toledo outdoor skills specialist Amanda Domalski, share stories and visuals from their adventure.
Long Nights Full Moon Walk
Offered Friday, December 17, from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at the Bradner Nature Center. During this month, the winter cold fastens its grip, and nights are at their longest and darkest. Bundle up and enjoy the last full moon of 2021.

Help clean native plant seeds that have been harvested from park district properties on Tuesday, December 21, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Park District Headquarters. This is an indoor, sit-down activity.
