On November 19, the Wood County Park District commissioners announced the appointment of a new director/secretary.

Christopher Smalley will start December 6. He replaces Neil Munger, who is retiring at the end of this year. Mr. Smalley’s starting salary will be $94,182.

Currently the regional manager of operations and park services supervisor for Metroparks Toledo, Mr. Smalley has been with Metroparks since 2010.

From 2000 to 2010, he was employed by the Wood County Park District where he served as a stewardship specialist and coordinator.

He has a bachelor’s degree in science, environmental studies and land use planning, an associate degree in science, and is a certified peace officer in Ohio.

The board will take formal action and introduce the new director to the public before his employment begins.
