St. Rose Catholic School and Perrysburg Schools teachers and staff received their second COVID-19 vaccines March 12 at Perrysburg High School.

“There are also some county employees coming in today,” said Perrysburg assistant superintendent Brook Price. “There will be about 756 vaccines given.”

Ben Robison, Wood County health commissioner, said having staff receive their second dose of the vaccine “means critical personnel won’t be unavailable because of COVID-19. It’s an important step.”

Mercy Health personnel from around the region administered the shots.

“So far, we’ve given approximately 70,000 vaccines throughout the entire community,” said Matt Sapara, Mercy Health vice president of operations and governmental affairs.

Dr. Bryon Borget, principal of St. Rose School, said he is “grateful for the work of all of the volunteers who made the vaccine available to our faculty and staff. It was a very smooth process, and we look to the future with great optimism.”

Perrysburg Superintendent Tom Hosler also said he is “grateful to the Wood County Health Department and Mercy Health. I also appreciate our team, which has done a great job organizing.”
