The Perrysburg High School girls golf team gathered in the PHS commons last week to celebrate a Northern Lakes League championship season and many individual awards including Sydney Deal’s second trip to Columbus for the OHSAA state championship.

The Yellow Jackets won the league championship in perfect fashion with their second undefeated season followed by winning the NLL championship with a total score of 356, nine strokes ahead of runner-up Anthony Wayne.

Deal was the Player of the Year in the NLL. Teammate Ariah Ellis earned Second Team All NLL followed by Olivia Eisaman and Paige Feldkamp on Third Team All League.

The Yellow Jackets also had a strong Division I All District presence as Deal earned back-to-back Division I Player of the Year and was the medalist at the district championship at Stone Ridge. Ellis and Eisaman also earned All District Honorable Mention.

At the Division I girls state championship, Deal finished in a tie for 20th and with the lowest score among northwest Ohio representatives at the Gray Course at Ohio State University.

Senior Summer Boedeker earned All NLL and All Ohio Academic honors.

“I was very proud of our student-athletes this season and we had a great night celebrating,” said varsity coach Rick Rettig. “We made great strides this season, and we are already excited to begin preparations for the 2022 season.”
